Ditch the Car and Take the bus

A Car Free Day is to encourage motorists to give up their cars for the day and this year it will be SUNDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER 2019.

Organised across the UK in many places it is hoped that motorists who rely on their car will see the benefits of other forms of transport to get to work or shopping or simply leisure and we at Xelabus in Eastleigh will be doing what we can to try and make habits change.

So on SUNDAY 22nd SEPTEMBER 2019 our services will have NO FARES and all journeys will be FREE for users. Our services include Hedge End, West End, Velmore and Boyatt Wood all terminating at Eastleigh Bus Station.

Gareth Blair, Managing Director of Xelabus said "We should all consider alternatives to the car and we feel joining in with Car Free Day by letting people use our buses at no charge may make them see how easy and convenient it is to use the bus."

Councillor David Airey for Eastleigh Borough Council said "I hope that many people take up this generous offer to try out local bus services as part of sustainable travel. It is a particularly good opportunity for those who have never used buses or haven't done so for a long time"

Following the Car Free Day we will be working with local councils and employers on offering discounted travel for those who work in Eastleigh and Southampton.
